Career Highlights: Started his career with AEK Athens’ junior club in Greece in 2002-03, competing as the team’s youngest player. Moved to the senior level during the 2003-04 season, playing for archrival Panathinaikos in Greece’s premier professional league. Continued with that club through 2006-07 before joining Panionios for the 2007-08 campaign. A member of the Greek Junior National Team. Averaged 17.5 points and 5.3 rebounds for Greece at the U20 European Championships held in Izmir, Turkey. Averaged 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds for Greece at the 2005 U20 European Championships held in Moscow, Russia. Won the bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships for Juniors. Competed as a member of the World Select Team in the 2005 Nike Hoop Summit game in Memphis, Tennessee, posting 15 points.

2007-08: Averaged 11.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in Greek A-1 for Panionios. Ranked sixth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.440) and seventh in three-point field goals made (48). Averaged 10.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12 ULEB Cup games.

2006-07: Averaged 3.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in 12.6 minutes a contest in Greek A-1 for Panathinaikos. Scored season high 10 points twice. Averaged 3.2 points and 1.0 rebounds in 9.1 minutes a contest in the Euroleague, helping Panathinakos capture the title.

2005-06: Averaged 7.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11.9 minutes a contest in Greek A-1. Posted a season-high 28 points vs. Kolossos Rodos. Earned a nod in the Greek A-1 U21 All-Star Game. Averaged 4.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 10.6 minutes a contest in the Euroleague, helping Panathinakos to a Quarterfinals finish.

2004-05: Averaged 6.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13.5 minutes a contest in Greek A-1. Recorded a season-high 17 points vs. MENT Vassilakis. Contributed 2.3 points in 7.6 minutes a contest in the Euroleague. Helped Panathinakos reach the Final Four and win the bronze medal.

2003-04: Averaged 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 8.3 minutes a contest in Greek A-1. Totaled season-highs of eight rebounds and 25 minutes in a October game vs. Ionikos Neas Filadelfias. Increased averages to 5.4 points in 12.4 minutes a contest in five playoff games. Also appeared in two Euroleague games but did not score.

2002-03: Playing for AEK’s junior team, won the Greek Junior Championship in 2003. The squad also earned the Bronze Medal at the 2003 Mundobasket for Junior Men and participated in the El Corte Inglés Junior Tournament staged in Barcelona during the 2003 Euroleague Final Four. In junior national team competition, at the 2003 World Championships for Junior Men, appeared in seven contests, averaging 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 4.1 minutes per outing, scoring 24 points in 29 total minutes. Shot 5-of-8 from three-point range and 8-of-12 overall.

Strengths: Excellent outside shooter. Likes to sag on the perimeter for spot up three-pointers. Possesses great size for the small forward position. His 6-10 frame offers him vertical spacing from his defender, making it easier for him to get off his shot.

Personal: Son of long-time Greek head coach Dragan Sakota, who is currently coaching in Italy. Brother Milos has also played professionally in Greece and is currently competing in Cyprus.
