Career Highlights: Irish Co-captain his junior and senior seasons. Named Honorable mention All-Big East in 2003-04.
Senior (2005-06): Led the team in rebounding (283) for the fourth straight season and was the team leader in blocks (31). Shot 50 percent from the field. Had eight double-doubles and a season-high 24 points against IPFW. Scored in double figures 18 times and had 10 or more rebounds 16 times.
Junior (2004-05): Started all 29 games this season after missing the final 12 of his sophomore year to undergo back surgery (herniated disc). Led the team in rebounding (227) for the third straight year, and had six double-doubles. Scored in double figures 14 times. Grabbed nine or more rebounds 14 times.
Sophomore (2003-04): Missed the final 12 games of the season due to a back injury. Earned Honorable Mention All-Big East honors. Scored in double figures 16 times. Had seven double-doubles. Scored 20 or more points five times.
Freshman (2002-03): Named to the All-Big East Rookie team. Led the team in rebounding (284) and was fourth on the team in scoring (11.1 ppg). Scored in double figures 19 times and had 10 or more rebounds 12 times. Posted a career-high 25 points against Arizona in the NCAA Sweet 16. Had 14 rebounds in NCAA second-round win over Illinois.
Strengths: Very agile for his size and has a pro body. Very good at establishing position for rebounds and put-backs. Also runs the floor well.
Personal: Son of Byrnell Francis Smikle. Second oldest of six children. Vice President of his senior class in high school and served as sports editor of student newspaper.
